I have been asked to make a punch for a small group of people. These are mostly casual drinkers. Usually cut the liquor in a cocktail by about half. They also enjoy frozen strawberry margarita's.
I would love to make something from David Wondrich's book, but I'm afraid I would be the only one drinking it.
Anybody have any recommendations? I like the look of this one. http://www.foodandwi...rican-rum-punch

That's a delicious punch, but I'm not sure it's for light drinkers. Here's an Emeril recipe for champagne punch My link that sounds good. You can make it lighter still with ginger ale/champagne like this recipe http://cocktails.abo...mpagne_pnch.htm

Why are they "light drinkers" - is it alcohol avoidance or a taste issue? If the latter, most punches should be a good fit - not a lot of alcohol taste, which is why they can be so dangerous!

A punch based on cider (hard cider, I guess? if that doesn't have more alcohol than EU cider) has a quite light alcohol presence. Plus, a lot of punches incorporate some fruit/spices, and the cider meshes well with that (I'd go with a dry cider; a sweet cider based punch would probably be a bit cloyinging).

Properly made punch is not all that alcoholic. Maybe around 15% abv (i.e., the same strength as a robust modern red wine).

You might be best off going with a simple "sangria" style beverage, perhaps with little or no fortifying spirits added?
To amp up the flavor, consider steeping some herbal tea in the wine?
