This topic is a follow-up to the PLAN thread - I'll copy here the report that we posted on the St Andrew Society web site:

Our first Scottish Curry Night went off smoothly on Thursday 9th September, thanks to the excellent food, service and hospitality at Maharaja Marunouchi, in the Meiji-Yasuda building in front of the palace moat right in the heart of Tokyo.

50 guests enjoyed a delicious series of carefully-spiced dishes, and enough whisky& coke, whisky& ginger, and whisky& iced milk tea (we'll call this a 'Tommy Lipton') to make Thursday night feel like Saturday afternoon.

Billy Ross showed his talent and artistry with some beautiful songs from Scotland and superb guitar technique. On the call for karaoke, guest Zach Thomas - rising star from Dumfries - joined him and nailed The Proclaimers' "I'm gonna be (500 Miles)" like a pro, with neither teleprompter nor song sheet, in a performance that was worth every drop in the bottle of The Famous Grouse it earned him.

The St Andrew Society Committee thanks everyone who came along, the staff at Maharaja, Billy, and sponsors The Famous Grouse and Walkers Shortbread, for making the evening such a great success. We look forward to seeing everyone at Scottish Curry Night again in the near future.
