According to the article below, Chef Bernardo Lopez regularly prepares classic dishes of South Africa for the South African embassy employees, particularly ambassador Mphakama N. Mbete who is a regular at the hotel's restaurant.

(For those curious its classic cuisine seems to combine protein-centric European style dishes augmented with the flavors of India / Pakistan, a sizeable immigrant group there - as well as traditional African seafood stews with local produce)

In honor of World Cup hosts South Africa, the restaurant at Sheraton Maria Isabel will feature South African dishes all month during the tournament, maybe some of you who live or travel to Mexico City on a regular basis might be interested in something a little different than the Mexican, Italian, French & Spanish cuisine that dominate the restaurant scene there.
