I follow Tyler Florence, Jamie Oliver, Daniel Patterson, Chris Cosentino.
Two other twitter accounts of note are Foodporn, and Ruth Reichl .
Its pretty fun getting updates on whats happening in the food world.
Anyone know of other food tweeters?

Hey - this sounds interesting, but pardon my naivete, but how do you follow someone on twitter (I only recently learned facebook where you have to be accepted as a friend)? Thanks!I wanted to create a topic to as a potential list of professional chefs with Twitter accounts.

twitter is asynchronous, meaning you can follow without being followed back. Some folks lock their updates only to people who have permission, but most folks live in the open and let anyone follow them. You don't have to be official friends.

I've only been registered for 4 years now, and while this is my first post, I'm sure you'll appreciate that it's been worth the wait.
Or not.
Anyway, just to add to the Twitter discussion, I'd committed - during a somewhat inebriated moment - that I would Twit (tweet? twat?) a recipe in real time, ie as I'm cooking it.
All I need now is to wait until cheese on toast comes onto the home menu.
I'll see how these other more illustrious names are doing before I make a final decision on taking the leap and allowing the great unwashed into my holiest of holies (the kitchen of course, what else could it be?)
And to repeat, Hello all.

I have a more basic question: for those of you already on board, what makes following a twitter thread (is that the right word?) worth it? At the risk of sounding anti-new technology, do I really want/need more messages beeping at me during the course of a day? I can't keep up with my emails or my podcast subscriptions as it is. The NYT article makes a good case for how twitter can be useful. But for everyone who recommends a twitter thread, can you tell us more about what you like about it and why it's worth subscribing.

I only Twitter online (not from a phone), so I avoid any message-alert beeping...but not the procrastinating.

Just showing an interest but how many of you "Foodies" have got Twitter accounts? Or any other Social media accounts? I would be interested to follow some of you....
None.
My daughter set up a F.B. account for me, but I haven't looked at it yet, and that was over a year ago.
Most of my time is spent with my business, my family, or sleeping. I spend maybe 2 hrs/day on the 'puter, with most of my time on forums like this.
